About

Cause music is our religion.

A humble little guide to the best new music caressing the ears of a DJ and his fellow nu music lovers. We are only interested in upfront pre-release music, if its charted its history!

That’s the philosophy behind Brand Nu but what was the catalyst? Well I love DJing around Uni and I’d even done a few bits and bobs on the radio which is musical nirvana for a chatty lover of new music… play and talk about the music you love and no one can tell you to shut up (as long as you make sure you’re on late enough that the boss definitely ain’t listening).

BUT I was finding it harder and harder to find radio homes that would let me play new music with their increasing focus on chart music and “classics”, it was very frustrating.

I need you to use your imagination please. Obviously a gorgeous individual like you will never have experienced this but it’s like (I imagine) the musical equivalent of sexual frustration, you just ain’t getting no satisfaction at the most basic, necessary level. But to make it worse this is TOTAL self-imposed sexual frustration because:

a) You aren’t even able to play with yourself

b) There are actually people (radio stations) wanting to sleep with you

BUT the stations wanting to sleep with you are the sexual equivalent of mingers… pop hit stations talking about lost cats and controversial speed humps, yes this ten pinter could give you a moment of joy but followed by years of shame for selling/ putting out.

Now obviously I aspire to have a night of sexual passion with some gorgeous Swedish triplets but in the mean time just a quick fiddle would be good allowing me to work off some of that pent up frustration and that’s why I created this blog. This is the musical frustration antidote equivalent to a good piece of self-satisfaction. I’m still unable to talk across the airwaves to you and your mates about the music we love but at least I can now wax lyrical one on one with you.

Although it does leave me wondering if this blog is a metaphor for masturbation what does that make you the lovely reader? ; 0 )
