Random indie tune of the week (I sense a feature coming on) is looking like being PRINZHORN DANCE SCHOOL – ‘You are the space invader’. I think the words say it all with this one.

On the more soulful tip really enjoying this weeks’ leaks of the new JILL SCOTT album especially its title track ‘The Real Thing’ and song three ‘Hate on Me’, don’t ya love the internet?! (sorry Jill)

Random Note

Is it just me who finds the concept of Paddy Orange something of a head fuck? Paddy immediately makes me think of Ireland and orange has surely got to be the most hated colour to the vast majority of the Irish Diaspora . Umm maybe I need to stop reading so much into things.

It was DINKY LOOP’s ‘Get Off The Dancefloor’ that first brought my attention to this band this week, quite simply ’cause (and I know this is quite an odd and very un me word to use) its very sweet and endearing (that’s two words). Having tracked them down on MySpace {I make this sound like a mission, they popped up immediately on Google (apparently other search engines are available?} I discovered a selection of even more top tunes of which ‘Born To Stand Out’ is the stand out.

On a random note saw some clips from last week’s MOBOS. I love how random and weird Quentin Tarantino is although I’m far too much of a girl to stomach his films. BUT this didn’t stop my laughing very loudly as he crashed and burned making a joke about our PM Gordon Brown, a joke about a politician at the MOBOS????! Know your audience Quentin, know your audience my friend. I expect we’ll see you next at the Labour Party Conference jesting about Dizzie Rascal and the latest trends in grime, gabba and dubstep. Oops.

BUT BUT BUT as blasphemous as this may be I can’t really rant cause I’ve heard a couple of great one-off shows courtesy of Macca and Gallagher, and everytime I hear one of those cheesy old skool jingles it brings a big smile to my face. So Radio One I’ll let you off for now but as of next week it better be back to new or I’ll be back listening to that obscure online Slovak techno station ; 0 )

I don’t remember much from a very hectic and intense weekend but I do remember the arrival in my life of the fantastic and ever so slighlty distrubly named that it makes me fell slightly ill FAKE BLOOD mix of Armand’s I Want Your Soul. Sick name, old record but new mix so it counts for us (I think).

I do remember one other dance discovery but only cause I cheated and listen to The Essential Selection again this morning. What happens when you link up West Coast classic 60′s with upfront electro Aussies? The answer is Dirty South vs The Doors – ‘The End’ and its rather a pleasant tune too if that isn’t a ridiculous word to use about a dance track!

A total music fest this weekend has left me gagging to talk to you about three particular tracks. Without wanting to sound like I’m about to engage in telling you an Irish joke aka the old racist scoundrel in the corner down your local who still thinks its the 70s Men From Mars style… it involves an indie song, a dance song and a kinda urban, kinda dubby I’m not really sure song.

The kinda urban, kinda dubby I’m not really sure song I heard courtesy of Ras Kwame on 1Xtra. Doing his Sunday afternoon homegrown this is a true radio safehaven whilst practically every other station in the world is doing their version of top 40 nonsense. The track by BENGA really stood out amongst an already eclectic and diverse show as something a wee bit different and special. I must add the lack of sleep over the previous 72 hours may well have enhanced the appeal of the dubby vibe of ‘Coki Night‘!

Yes I did say 72 hours naughtily starting the weekend a day early and its not even term time. First heard on Thursday but only really truly registering its mammoth potential till Friday night is the latest ‘I know lets sample a funky classic and drop loads of squelchy electro beats over it and cross our fingers we can make a quick buck’ track. And I think they might just do exactly that but I am biased having always loved the Wise Guys original. Check out JAYMEN – ‘Oh La La’ (Barratt and Falconi Mix) which utilises the oh la la sample even better than Mickey Slim used House of Pain earlier in the year.

The kinda not really sure vibe also applies to an indie track which I know sod all about apart from the fact I really liked it when I heard it and wrote it in a smudge on my hand. Maybe you can tell me a bit more about FEATURE THE LEFT – ‘Small Bones‘? Like have I even got the name right?! Ooh while your at it same vibe with ME AND YOU – ‘Elephant Take Over’
